Roobos wholesale for flowers and plants: the fantastic Osteospermum from Kwekerij van Wensen
The Osteospermum is a popular summer bloomer. In the Netherlands it is also called Spanish (or Cape) daisy. The plant is native to South Africa. Osteospermums belong to the plant family of the composites or daisy-like species (Asteraceae). Originally, the Spanish daisy is a perennial, but in the Netherlands it is a 1-year old.
The Osteospermum is a special plant because it closes its flowers in the evening and opens again during the day. It is best to place it in a sunny place in the garden. Place the Spanish Margriet in a somewhat larger pot, as he likes it when his roots have a little more space. The Spanish daisy is not hardy. Because he is originally from South Africa, he therefore does not like to be in a layer of water.
The height of Osteospermum is approximately 60 cm and it flowers in the months of June to October with star-shaped flowers and is available in about 30 different colors. Pay close attention to the colors when purchasing. The flowers may appear white at first to later form a different color
Regularly removing the old flowers ensures that the plant does not form seed and that you will enjoy these plants for longer. Adding a little bit of fertilizer can be beneficial, but watch out for over-fertilizing as the plant will get less flowers. If you want to take cuttings yourself, this is possible in the autumn. Spanish daisies bloom in the Netherlands from May to September.
