Our wholesaler of flowers and plants is always busy selecting only the best growers for our webshop. That is why we only have the most excellent growers in our range. Today we would like to introduce you to nursery ANSU Vanda
The beginning of ANSU is somewhere in the middle of the last century. It is 1955 when Sawat Suphachadiwong in Bangkok starts growing orchids. It is son Tamlong who, as young as he is, already helps his father. Twelve years later, Tamlong uses his savings to buy an orchid on a market: a Vanda. That purchase will completely change his life.
Just eight years later, he introduces his first cross, which he calls Vanda Wilai, after his mother. In 1982 he started with his German wife Heike Suphachadiwong Orchids. The company focuses on breeding, selection and export of orchids worldwide. Suphachadiwong Orchids grows into a company with one of the largest plant collections in the world.
In 1994 the Westland grower meets Steef van Adrichem Tamlong when he is visiting Thailand. The two entrepreneurs share their passion for special flowers and plants. Steef wants to focus on orchid cultivation, but with a separate variety. Tamlong has that: the Vanda.
The Vanda is certainly distinctive, as one of the 20 thousand orchid varieties that exist worldwide. It is a species that grows high in the air, in the jungle south of the Himalayas. In order to attract insects for pollination to these often invisible places, the Vanda develops unique colors and color patterns. Such as blue in many shades, a color that is very rare in nature. The plants have aerial roots, which provide the Vanda with dew and rainwater.
It is exactly the exclusive variety that Steef is looking for. With one handicap: no one has ever succeeded in trading the unapproachable Vanda as a flowering plant.
A breeding process of years
A breeding and propagation process of years begins. A process in which creativity and determination go hand in hand, both in Thailand and in the Netherlands. Slowly but surely, success is emerging. Volumes are getting bigger. First as a plant, later as a cut flower. And the market is responding with unprecedented enthusiasm. The Vanda will become the symbol of exclusivity in floriculture.
The growth of the company - then called ANCO - gets a boost when neighbor Ed Helderman becomes a partner and involves his company: the area grows from 2.4 to 6 hectares in one fell swoop. With that, the momentum started. The range is continuously growing, to now 100 varieties in the most exotic colors and color patterns. The Vanda also receives international recognition, at prominent flower shows and events and thanks to high-profile arrangers. Creative concepts further strengthen the Vanda branding.
In 2019, the time has come to strengthen ties with Thailand even closer. The company of Van Adrichem and Helderman, the only Vanda supplier in Europe, becomes one with that of Tamlong Suphachadiwong. ANCO becomes ANSU, after the initials of the two companies. No longer in the construction of supplier and customer, but as equal partners, each with their own specialism. ANSU is born. Standing out together!
The "new" ANSU is also broadening its activities to green plants, such as Tillandsia and Sansevieria. Here, too, the emphasis is on exclusivity: both in the choice of varieties and in the development of commercial concepts. The business operations in Thailand and the Netherlands are very professional, with Suphachadiwong being one of the first companies in Thailand with an MPS quality mark.
In short, ANSU Vanda is a unique company with a long history that is constantly developing to produce the most beautiful Vandas.

ANSU Vanda processes this beautiful plant in many arrangements with added value. But now they have added a number of new varieties to their popular Tillandsia range: The Loose Ionantha's
